Never.
Facebook is used to validate your account and create your unique user ID. Registering your account through your phone number or Facebook allows you to easily find your friends and communicate with YO! users outside the HyperNet. And don’t worry – we won’t post anything on your behalf!
Your phone number is used to register and your account and create your unique user ID. This also allows us to validate that you are a real user, and prevents bots and spam from infiltrating YO!. We solemnly swear we will never distribute this information to anyone else. If you feel better not sharing your phone number, you can use your Facebook account to register instead.
To block a user, tap the menu icon (the 3 vertical dots) on the top right of their profile page. From here you will have the option to block this user.
If you ever want to unblock a user, go to “Settings” and then “Messages”. There is an option here to view and edit your blocked users list.
By default, all YO! users will be able to see your published media when they are on the same HyperNet as you. If you do not share a HyperNet, you will not see each other’s media. You can manage who sees your content by:
Note that all YO! users in the same HyperNet will always see your username, status, and display picture.
No. A conversation can only have two members (yourself and the person you are messaging). The YO! Product Team is evaluating whether or not to add this feature to our roadmap, so if you have an opinion that you would like to express on the matter, please Contact YO!.
If you look beside the time stamp on a message you will see an icon indicating the message status.
If you are a registered YO! user (validated your account with Facebook or your Phone Number), you can chat to your friends over the Internet. To send a message over the Internet, the user that you are chatting with must be registered as well.
In the Android app, tap on Media. The first tab here is downloads, and all the items that you download will be shown here. Also, if you look through your device directory you will find a folder called YO!. All downloaded items are stored there.
In the iOS app, downloaded media will be listed on the Media tab under the section called Recent. If you are looking for an older item, tap on the Downloads button beside Recent to get your full historical downloads list. All downloaded items will also be added to your device folders – check out the iOS Photos app to see items that you have downloaded as a part of your photos library.
Android: Open the menu, and tap the option “Invite to YO!”. Then select the method that you want to use to invite your friends. You can even transfer the YO! app to them directly using bluetooth or a hotspot.
iOS: Tap the + icon on the top right corner of the Friends page.
On either kind of device, register with your Phone number or Facebook to automatically connect to people you know from your address book or in your Facebook friends who are already on YO!.

YO! lets you download content from any user also on the HyperNet, and saves it automatically to your device. Tap on the media that you want, then tap the yellow download Floating Action Button (FAB) . This starts transferring the content to your device. Then it’s all yours! Forever.
On the HyperNet, the file size is unlimited. Whoot-whoot! When sharing via the internet you will be restricted to 100 MB to save unnecessary charges.
Some Android devices will not let you create a Hotspot from within an application without enabling the proper settings (a Hotspot is the basis for a HyperNet connection). We think this sucks, but not to worry, we’ve got a solution for you.
Note that the exact procedure for this will vary by device manufacturer.
Oh, and if you’re an iOS user who is looking to create a HyperNet, we’re sorry to say that creating can’t happen at all – but feel free to join any existing HypeNet. See the “How do I connect to the HyperNet?” question for more information.
The HyperNet is only limited by the size of the device hotspot or WiFi network that you are connected to.
Here’s some general stats:
Important: Users can only see each other if they are on the same HyperNet.
You should use the HyperNet because:
In summary: IT’S FREE AND FAST AND IT WORKS EVERYWHERE.
To connect to the HyperNet, a HyperNet must be created either by you or another YO! user. HyperNets can only be created on Android devices, though both Android and iOS users can connect to them.

The HyperNet is YO!’s super-fast offline network. It connects you with other YO! users nearby to enable you to download and share media freely without using the internet. You can create or join a HyperNet anywhere.

YO! is a mobile application available for iOS and Android users. It is the only application to use the HyperNet – a cool sharing technology that allows users to share and download videos, apps, music, files, and photos for free – all without needing the internet. Learn more about YO! at http://www.wave.io/apps/yo/ .
If your device has a data plan, and cellular data turned ON, creating a hotspot has the potential to use data.
To avoid this, simply go to your device settings and turn off cellular data. On an Android device, YO! will warn you if you are creating a Hotspot with your data on. Otherwise, no worries!
Well a smile and a compliment can go a long way. YO! users are the coolest, most awesome people there are. See?
Anyways, to add people to your YO! friends list, you must first be a registered user – that means signing up with your phone number or Facebook. Then, anyone you want to add needs to be a registered user too (trust us, this is important for security). If both of those things are good, then you can add someone to your friends list by visiting their profile, and tapping the yellow button with a person and a +. They’ll now be a part of your friends list!
